Coaching Philosophy

Through a collaborative approach, we strive towards reaching your full potential and your own success. This program requires a dedicated athlete ready for open communication and involvement in continuous planning and revisions of our approach, while we leave no stone unturned in our efforts.

Priority will be given to the well-being of your equine partner, keeping in mind their safety and welfare every step of the way. Meanwhile we will help you develop into a well-rounded athlete, who is physically, mentally, and emotionally capable both in and out of sport.

We learn and explore together as we seek to find the most suitable path to help you reach your greatest desires in the sport. Your hard work and dedication will be required to succeed but will be balanced as we meet you at your current skill level and progress through appropriate challenges and learning opportunities in a safe, fun and supportive equestrian environment.

Through this collaborative approach built upon mutual trust and respect, that demands a high level of commitment from both the athlete and coach, you learn how to achieve your own goals and pave the way to your future in the sport.

Program Delivery

Athletes ready to start in the High Performance Program have typically achieved international level in competition. Athletes must demonstrate a high level of commitment to their training and have support to continue on. Athletes are able to train and compete on the horses owned and trained by Jeanine van der Sluijs & Angelique Vick. Or athletes may bring in their own horses. A horse development plan can be established if needed.

Weekly training structure includes group lessons, private or semi-private training sessions on the barrel and/or horse(s), and an individualized training program in strength and skill development. Athlete Education Seminars will be held throughout the year to prepare for upper level competitions. And additional development clinics and training camps will be offered at times.

Training is based out of Creekside Equestrian Centre, which facilitates year-round training opportunities. The facility includes a heated indoor arena, cross-training gym and has a mechanical barrel (Movie), in addition to gymnastics equipment.

Out of region athletes are able to train under Jeanine, and an individual plan will be established in collaboration between athlete and coach
